Everton Pursue Super Eagles’ Kelechi Iheanacho as Potential Solution to Scoring Woes

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has emerged as a transfer target for Everton as the club seeks to bolster its attacking options following a challenging season in the English Premier League. Soccernet.ng reports that Everton’s interest in Iheanacho comes after the Merseyside club secured safety in the top flight.

Iheanacho, who has found himself relegated to the bench at Leicester City, has attracted attention from Everton after rejecting a contract extension with his current club. Despite showcasing his goal-scoring prowess with five goals in ten starts for Leicester in the EFL Championships, Iheanacho is reportedly seeking a new challenge.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness confirmed the club’s interest in the Nigerian striker, highlighting his potential to make a significant impact in the Premier League. However, questions arise about how Iheanacho’s playing style aligns with Everton manager Sean Dyche’s tactical approach, which typically favors aerial duels.

Aside from Everton, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have also expressed interest in acquiring Iheanacho’s services. The 27-year-old’s decision regarding his next move will be crucial, especially with the 2025 AFCON tournament on the horizon.
