Kawempe Muslim Secondary School claimed the Fresh Dairy Girls Football 2024 Championship title after a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Rines Secondary School. The final, held on June 21, 2024, ended in a goalless draw, leading to the decisive spot kicks.
The intense match saw both teams display remarkable skill and determination. Despite several close attempts, neither side managed to score during regular time. The hero of the match was Kawempe’s goalkeeper, Haira Nabbosa, who made two crucial saves during the penalty shootout, securing the victory for her team.
This victory marks Kawempe Muslim SS’s eighth title in the Fresh Dairy Girls Football Championship, reinforcing their dominance in Ugandan girls’ football. Coach Moses Nkata praised his team for their resilience and skill, especially noting their success earlier this year at the Elite Games in Jinja.
Rines SS, under the guidance of head coach Bright Nyanzi, reached their first final in this competition and earned a commendable silver medal. Despite the loss, their performance throughout the tournament highlighted their growth and potential. Amus College School secured the bronze medal, rounding out the top three teams.
