Uganda Gazelles, the national women’s basketball team, is all set to compete in the highly anticipated FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament scheduled for July and August in Kigali, Rwanda. Head coach Alberto Antuna recently unveiled the final roster, which prominently features players from the dominant JKL Dolphins team.
One standout player whose return to the team captured attention is Jannon Jaye Otto, an American-born Ugandan basketball star. Recognized as the best basketball player of February 2023 in the esteemed Real Star Awards, Jannon kicked off her training session with the Uganda Gazelles over the weekend. The team subsequently checked into their training camp at Onomo Hotel on Sunday where they celebrated the birth day of captain Flavia Oketcho.
Jannon’s remarkable performances in the FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers Zone V played a significant role in securing her spot on the final team. In just five games, she showcased her prowess by scoring an impressive 87 points, leaving an indelible mark on the court.
