Abey Priscilla joins Jane Asinde at UTEP women’s basketball team

UTEP women’s basketball has signed Gazelles forward Abey Priscilla from Grayson College, as announced by Head Coach Keitha Adams on Thursday. Priscilla, a 6-foot guard/forward from Uganda, is set to join her compatriot Jane Asinde with the Miners for the 2024-25 season. Abey, currently a sophomore at Grayson College, boasts impressive stats, including four starts in six appearances, averaging 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Noteworthy performances include posting 17 points and nine rebounds against Oklahoma Wesleyan and achieving a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Paris Junior College. Abey, who plays for the Uganda national team, had a significant role in the team’s success at the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket, where she appeared in six games. Additionally, she competed in the Ugandan 3×3 basketball team. Head Coach Keitha Adams expressed enthusiasm about Abey’s addition, emphasizing her athleticism, scoring versatility, and valuable international and junior college experience.

Abey Priscilla was also part of The Uganda Women’s National Basketball team, the Gazelles that secured  a seventh-place finish at the 2023 FIBA Afrobasket by defeating Guinea 85-44 in the last classification game in Kigali.
