Friday national basketball league action pits last season’s men’s finalists City Oilers and KIU Titans in a clash of the titans.
The Oilers were 4-2 winners in the best-of-seven series to claim a record extending ninth title and have since kick started the season with a 4-0 record under new head coach Andrew Tendo.
The Kansanga based KIU Titans on the other hand have won two and lost one of their three games so far and remain one of the title contenders this season.
With both sides boasting of quality players, it promises to be a thrilling contest with tip off set for 9pm at the Lugogo indoor arena.
KIU Titans center Stanley Mugerwa believes it will be an exciting encounter, “It’s a game to watch. City Oilers is great team with great players and coaches, they are nine-time champions and their most recent championship was against us in game six so expect a game seven kind of quality on our side.”
“As the Titans, the camp is ready, motivated and prepared for the game. Combining the talent and preparation that we have had, with guys wanting to play with each other, the hard work on court and the great job coaches are doing in camp, I can confidently say we expect good result tonight,” Mugerwa noted.
City Oilers forward Titus Lual reflects on the tie, “KIU Titans are looking good. They have a new point guard and big man plus the recruitment of Ivan Lumanyika. I believe they will compete tonight and for us coming from the Ndejje game it will be a hard game.”
The other fixtures will see Our Savior take on Livingstone at 3pm as KIU Rangers face KCCA Leopards at 5pm. JT Lady Jaguars will be up against eight-time record champions UCU Lady Canons at 7pm. The action will be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
