Uganda will have two representatives at this years 2024 Magical Kenya open with highest ranked professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo and David Kamulindwa set to to take part. The tournament tees off with the 22nd to the 25th of February 2024.
Rugumayo qualified after posting a stellar performance in the just-concluded Safari Tour at the Karen Golf Club in Nairobi bringing him to a total of 112 points after completing in four out of the six tournaments in the tour.
David Kamulindwa was granted a coveted wild card entry to the prestigious tournament which is a DP World Tour event. This means that there will be two Ugandan professional golfers at the event. Ronald Rugumayo who qualified for the event via the Safari Tour series was the first to secure a slot. Rugumayo also featured at last year’s Magical Kenya Open after he secured a wild card.
After a well-deserved two-week break, the DP World Tour returns to action this week with the Magical Kenya Open at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi with Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino looking to continue his extraordinary start to the season.
He finished second at both the Australian Open and Australian PGA, and then made the breakthrough by winning the Qatar Masters. He is riding high in the Race to Dubai and has now risen to 75th in the world rankings – another victory will almost certainly get him into the top 50 and secure his place in the majors.
Last year, a five-under-par final round of 66 took Spain’s Jorge Campillo to 18 under for the week and earned a two-stroke victory over another Japanese player, Masahiro Kawamura.
