In a ceremony held at Lugogo, the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) declared Lydia Nakidde as the standout athlete for February.
This recognition comes after Nakidde’s remarkable achievement at the Africa Senior Championship in Egypt, where she secured a bronze medal on February 7.
Nakidde faced stiff competition for the prestigious title, outshining accomplished golfer Ronald Rugumayo.
Rugumayo made history as the first Ugandan professional golfer to make the cut at the DP World Tour at the challenging par-72 Muthaiga Golf course in Kenya.
The accolades did not end there, as the Uganda U17 Women’s National Team received well-deserved acknowledgement for their outstanding performance.
The team’s triumphant 4-2 aggregate victory over Cameroon in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers demonstrated their prowess and commitment to success.
The USPA meeting also unveiled Agnes Nabukenya as the Promising Talent of the Month, surpassing Brenda Aliano of the Miracle Basketball Club.
Kitara FC’s Brian Senyondo secured the Supportive Award, and the club’s president, Deo Kasozi, proudly clinched the Sporting Award.
