Uganda’s boxing duo of Muzamir Semuddu and Khassim Murungi registered winning start at the ongoing African Games in Ghana.
The two were in action on Saturday with Captain Semuddu registered a stunning knockout win over Togo’s Akoussan Holonou while youngster Murungi stopped Liberia’s Williams Timothy in the Featherweight second round.
At the quarterfinals, Semuddu will take on Ghana’s Henry Malmy while Murungi faces another homeboy Abdul Wahid who got a bye at the round of 16.
The duo joined Owen Kibira, who on points beat Liberia’s Nze Billigraham to meet Tunisia’s Zakaria Romdhani at the quarter finals.
Sharua Ndagire lost to a more experienced Nigeria’s Joy Ojo on points.
Uganda is having national team debutants Tumusiime Innocnet and Amoko Innocent in action on Sunday at the Bukom boxing arena.
Tumusiime, in the opening bout, takes on Lesotho’s Kolobe Retiselisitsoe in the minimum weight quarter final while Amoko takes on Bouzine Jovanie Darius Antoine from Seychelles in the lightwelter round of 16.
