Koshiba, Kawalya Secure Top Honors at Lady Captain’s Prize Golf Tournament

Koshiba, Kawalya Secure Top Honors at Lady Captain’s Prize Golf Tournament

The 2024 Lady Captain’s Prize golf tournament took place on Saturday at Uganda Golf Club’s par-72 course in Kitante, Kampala, with Hisae Koshiba and Dennis Kawalya emerging as the overall winners in the ladies and men’s categories respectively.

Koshiba, boasting a handicap of 27, delivered an outstanding nett score of 69. On the other hand, Kawalya, with a handicap of 19, led the men’s category with an impressive nett score of 62.

The tournament marked the inauguration of the new leadership within the UGC Ladies section. Wendy Angudeyo, who was reelected as Lady Captain of UGC just last week, officially commenced her new term leading the UGC Ladies section. Assisting her are Sarah Nduhukire as Vice Lady Captain, Hon. Patience Nkunda as Secretary, Berna Musanabera as Treasurer, and Flavia Namakula as Competitions Secretary, forming a dedicated team ready to uphold the values and traditions of the club.

Reflecting on the tournament, Angudeyo noted the continuous growth of the UGC Ladies section, highlighting its success in areas such as participation and engagement with sponsors, which mutually benefit both parties by providing tangible value and substantial returns on investments.

At the event, Harriet Kitaka emerged as the winner of the club championship, with Angudeyo securing the runner-up position. In Ladies Group A, Kitaka topped with an impressive score of 76 nett, while Peace Kabasweka emerged as the runner-up with 77. Kabasweka also clinched the ladies nearest to the pin prize.

In the Men’s category, Aggrey Mutaka claimed victory in Group A with a score of 70 nett, followed closely by Dickson Agaba as the runner-up with 71 c/b. David Batanda took the top spot in Group B with 68, with Patrick Kagoro as the runner-up with 72. Group C saw Simon Akanziza emerging as the winner with 66 nett, while Michael Nimo secured the second position with 67.

In the senior categories, Juma Shamim emerged as the ladies senior winner with 75 nett, while Tushar Doshi clinched the men’s senior winner with 71 nett. Tarit Kimtai claimed the guest winner title with 64 nett and also bagged the men’s nearest to the pin award.

John Musimenta claimed the men’s longest drive award, while Judith Komugisha took home the ladies longest drive award. The ‘piga mingi’ was ‘won’ by Nirav Hathi with a score of 93 nett.
