MTN Monthly Tee Returns with “Queens of the Green” Theme

The much-awaited MTN Monthly Tee is back this weekend, set to grace the Entebbe Club with its quarterly edition. Scheduled for this Saturday, the event will be specially dedicated to the ladies, as the telecom powerhouse looks to integrate more women into the sport.

Patricia Nabasirye, Manager Regulatory and Corporate Affairs at MTN, expressed excitement about the upcoming edition, highlighting its focus on celebrating women in golf. With the theme “Queens of the Green,” the event aims to honor female leadership and achievements, emphasizing inclusivity within the sport.

“We have a couple of activities lined up for Saturday,” said Nabasirye. “First of all, this monthly tee is going to be a women’s affair. We are celebrating the women, celebrating their leadership and their achievements, so it’s something that we’re really keen on promoting inclusivity.”

In line with MTN’s commitment to innovation, Nabasirye revealed that they have digitized the payments journey, enabling participants to conveniently make additional purchases using MoMo. Additionally, MTN is offering a special cashback incentive, providing 100% cashback for ladies registering to play in the event.

Defending champion Bridget Basiima enters Saturday’s round aiming to maintain her lead in the race. With an impressive 142 nett after two rounds, Basiima faces stiff competition from Diana Nabukenya, trailing closely at 148 nett.

According to a press release from the club, the Men’s and Ladies’ Order of Merit leads to the Club’s Golfer of the Year awards, with the best eight rounds determining the overall winners for the year.

In the Men’s category, Kirarira Twijukye currently leads the pack with 137 nett, followed closely by Dejan Stepanovic at 138 nett. Last year’s champions were Michael Moone for the Men and Bridget Basiima for the Ladies.

MTN is the title sponsor of the MTN Monthly Tee and a key supporter of Entebbe Club. Other co-sponsors include CFAO Motors, AfriSafe Insurance Brokers, Huawei Uganda, and Castle Lite.
