JT Jaguars forward George Agasi’s joint game-high 17 points couldn’t stop the men’s national basketball league holders City Oilers, as they secured their ninth win of the season with a 73-53 victory.
Titus Lual’s double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, alongside 17 and 11 points respectively from captain Jimmy Enabu and Tony Drileba, sealed the result for the Oilers.
Despite three closely contested quarters, a fourth-quarter slump saw substitute Maker Mer and center Titus Lual scoring crucial points, handing the Andrew Tendo-led side the win.
While the Oilers held an 8-point lead going into the last ten minutes, the Sudi Ulanga-led Jaguars showcased commendable organization and work rate, restricting the Oilers’ shooting prowess.
JT Jaguars guard Abraham Dut pointed to low scoring efficiency as the main undoing for his side, stating, “We started the game with full force, though in the fourth quarter, the City Oilers overtook us and got more points than we did.”
Reflecting on the performance, veteran City Oilers guard Ben Komakech acknowledged the challenge of facing motivated opponents, noting, “The game was hard, and these guys came to play against us.”
The UCU Lady Canons secured their seventh win of the season with a 67-50 victory over the Miracle Ravens in the earlier tie.
Action returns on Friday March 29th at the Lugogo indoor arena, with women’s table leaders KCCA Leopards facing defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins in a crunch tie at 7 pm, while UCU Canons take on Namuwongo Blazers in the men’s game. Action will be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
