Kenya Triumphs Over Rwanda to Go Top of Easter Youth ODI Standings

Kenya’s U19 cricket team clinched a decisive victory over Rwanda’s U19 squad, catapulting them to the top of the series leaderboard in the Easter Youth ODI Series hosted at Jinja SS.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Rwanda set a target of 124 runs before being bowled out in the 36th over. Despite their efforts, they faced a formidable challenge from Kenya’s disciplined bowling attack.

Responding to the challenge with confidence and determination, the Kenyan team showcased their batting prowess, chasing down the target in just the 30th over, securing victory with 8 wickets to spare. The standout performance came from Kenya’s Stian Smith, whose exceptional batting display saw him rack up 46 runs, including an impressive tally of 4 sixes, earning him the spotlight in the match.

With this victory, Kenya now leads the series with a perfect record of 4 points. Trailing behind, Uganda holds the second position with 2 points, while Rwanda finds themselves at the bottom with 0 points.

In terms of individual performances, Rwanda’s Yves Cyusa leads the batting charts with an impressive tally of 62 runs, closely followed by Kenya’s Stian Smith with 61 runs and Uganda’s Olipa Gerald with 55 runs.

Meanwhile, in the bowling department, Uganda’s Gurjivan Singh stands out with an impressive haul of 8 wickets, followed by Kenya’s Stian Smith with 5 wickets and Kenya’s Akshith Sekar with 4 wickets.

In the overall player rankings, Kenya’s Stian Smith emerges as the frontrunner with an outstanding total of 614 points, followed by Uganda’s Gurjivan Singh with 480 points and Uganda’s Sohera Richard with 293 points, showcasing their exceptional contributions to their respective teams.

As the action-packed series continues, all eyes are now set on the upcoming clash between Uganda and Kenya on Friday, March 29th with Uganda seeking redemption after their defeat in the series opener.
