Uganda’s badminton contingent has set off to China where they will represent the nation and the African continent at the prestigious Thomas and Uber Cup. The team comprises Tracy Naluwooza, Husina Kobugabe, Shamika Mohammed Rafi, and Gladys Mbabazi, all geared up to showcase their prowess on the international stage.
Grouped in Group C alongside formidable opponents like Japan, Indonesia, and Hong Kong China, Uganda faces a challenging path to the quarterfinals. With only the top two teams progressing, the Ugandan players are primed for intense competition, aiming to secure their advancement in the tournament.
Scheduled from April 27th to May 5th, the 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup marks the 33rd edition of the Thomas Cup and the 30th edition of the Uber Cup. Organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), this biennial championship serves as a platform for the world’s best men’s and women’s national teams to vie for badminton supremacy.
