Lukanga Boxing Club Wins 2024 National Boxing Open Championship

Lukanga Boxing Club emerged triumphant at the highly anticipated 2024 National Boxing Open Championship, clinching the coveted title with an impressive tally of 121 points.

Cobar Boxing Club followed closely behind with 59 points, with UPDF trailing at 44 points. Sparks Boxing Club and KCCA Boxing Club also showcased their skills, earning 39 and 26 points respectively.

This victory marks Lukanga Boxing Club’s third consecutive win in the national championship, adding to their titles in 2019, 2023, and 2024.
In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Lukanga Boxing Club showcased their dominance across various categories, securing victory in the junior, youth, and elite divisions. Led by the exceptional coaching prowess of Warren Kanyike Nsubuga, the team exhibited exceptional teamwork and strategic prowess throughout the tournament.

A standout moment of the championship came with the recognition of individual talents. Mukuye Horod was rightfully awarded the title of Best Boxer, demonstrating outstanding performance and skill in the ring. Additionally, Nakinga Grace from the University of Pain was celebrated as the Best Female Boxer, showcasing the growing influence and participation of women in the sport.

The leadership of Nakato Swabura played a pivotal role in guiding Lukanga Boxing Club to victory, with her tactical acumen and unwavering determination inspiring her teammates to deliver their best performances.

The championship also witnessed thrilling matches, none more memorable than the showdown between Rasikala Paul and Onen Jafar, which captivated audiences with its intensity and skillful exchanges.

Tumusiime Nerrick emerged as a standout athlete in the light middleweight category, showcasing exceptional talent and determination on his path to success.

As the dust settled on the exhilarating tournament, attention now turns to the upcoming Championship League, scheduled to commence on May 11, 2024. With their resounding victory, Lukanga Boxing Club and other champions have solidified their positions as formidable contenders in the upcoming league.

The final standings of the championship reaffirmed Lukanga Boxing Club’s supremacy, with the team topping the overall table with a commanding lead, underscoring their status as the deserving champions of the 2024 National Boxing Open Championship.

The future looks bright for boxing enthusiasts as they eagerly await the thrilling action set to unfold in the Championship League, where the nation’s top contenders will once again vie for glory in the ring.
