The entry lists for the upcoming Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally have been released. With a diverse field of competitors, including local talents, international crews, and African Rally Championship contenders, the rally promises gripping action and intense competition.
The entry list, comprising 35 teams, was revealed ahead of the official launch at the Kabira Country Club on Friday 3rd May 2024.
Among the lineup are two international crews and five registered ARC (African Rally Championship) teams, ensuring a mix of seasoned veterans and ambitious newcomers ready to tackle the challenging stages in and around Jinja.
Local stars such as Jas Mangat, partnered with French co-driver Laurent Magat, are geared up to defend their dominance on Uganda’s rally scene. Mangat, driving a powerful Hyundai I20, is expected to face stiff competition from talents like Ponsiano Lwakataka, piloting a sleek Subaru Impreza N12B renowned for its agility and speed.
Adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition are the local ARC contenders, including Micheal Mukula Jr and Edward Kiyingi, who will pilot a Subaru Impreza N14, and Moustapha Mukasa and Lawrence Mwambazi, unleashing their Mitsubishi Evo9 with precision and power.
The international presence is equally captivating, with crews like Karan Patel and Tauseef Khan, driving a cutting-edge Skoda Fabia R5, set to challenge the local teams with their expertise gained from various international rallies. Another notable mention is the duo of Hamza Anwar and Adnan Din, ready to impress with their Ford Fiesta R5.
