In preparation for the upcoming under-19 women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers, 25 young cricketers have been selected to participate in a rigorous 10-day training camp. The camp, scheduled to take place at Jinja SS, aims to fine-tune the skills and readiness of the athletes for the competitive tournament ahead.
Led by Lelia Namaganda, the manager of the Baby Victoria Pearls, the selection process concluded after the Girls Schools Cricket Week. Namaganda emphasized the importance of the camp in preparing the players for the challenges of the qualifiers and highlighted that the final squad of 14 players would be determined after the intensive training period.
The training camp will be under the guidance of experienced coaches Yusuf Nanga and Ivan Kakande, both integral members of the Baby Victoria Pearls coaching staff. Their expertise and leadership will play a crucial role in maximizing the potential of the selected cricketers.
Notably, Olila High School and Jinja SS have made significant contributions to the selected cohort, with five players each included in the squad. Additionally, two players currently in Form Six vacation remain eligible for selection.
