Rounders CC opened their Boundary Banters T20 campaign with a commanding double victory over Centurion CC at Entebbe Cricket Ground on Saturday.
In the morning fixture, Rounders won the toss and elected to bat, recovering from early setbacks to post 120 for 4 in 15 overs.
Ronald Magezi anchored the innings with an unbeaten 53, providing stability through the middle overs, while Yasin Ngobi Hussen accelerated the scoring with a rapid 42 not out off 24 balls, earning him Player of the Match.
Centurion CC showed glimpses of promise, with Conrad Lubwama top-scoring at 34 and Phillip Arinaitwe adding 17, but the chase lacked continuity. Tight bowling from Narinder Singh and Ngobi restricted Centurion to 95 for 7, giving Rounders a comfortable 25-run victory.
The afternoon clash saw Rounders extend their dominance with a 28-run win, completing a perfect day. Batting first once again, they posted 153 for 5 in 20 overs, with Paul Mulongo leading the charge with 46 runs and Zulu Walaza anchoring the innings with 36 before retiring not out.
Eddie Agaba provided a late surge, smashing 23 off 10 deliveries to push the total beyond 150. Centurion CC were anchored by Brian Mark Masaba’s fighting 52, but early wickets and a lack of support from the rest of the lineup disrupted their chase.
Rushik Kanji Ghodadara took four wickets while Emmanuel Sebowa claimed three, dismantling Centurion’s innings and ensuring they were bowled out for 125 in 19 overs. Masaba was named Player of the Match for his resilient innings.
Rounders’ commanding performance on Day One establishes them as early favourites in the Boundary Banters League, while Centurion will look to regroup ahead of their next fixture against ACC at Florida Cricket Oval on May 9.
