The KCCA Panthers are gearing up to take on the Namuwongo Blazers in a highly anticipated National Basketball League men’s division match today, May 15th at YMCA Wandegeya. The game, scheduled to start at 9 PM, comes as the Panthers seek to avenge their previous defeat to the Blazers earlier in the season.
In their first encounter of the 2023/24 season, the Namblazers triumphed with an emphatic 84-64 victory. The starting five for the Blazers scored 59 points, while the bench contributed an additional 25 points. Leading the charge was Paul Odong, who notched up 16 points, grabbed four defensive rebounds, two offensive rebounds, and added five assists and four steals.
Currently, the Namuwongo Blazers sit atop the standings with 27 points. They have been in excellent form, winning their last four games consecutively after a setback against the UCU Canons in March. Their recent run of victories underscores their dominant position as they aim to extend their winning streak.
The KCCA Panthers, on the other hand, are placed sixth in the standings with 23 points. Despite their mid-table position, the Panthers have shown resilience, winning four of their last five games. Their only recent loss came against the Kampala Rockets.
In the Women’s Division, the Miracle Ravens will face off against the Magic Stomers. The Ravens, positioned fourth with 24 points, are looking to bounce back after losing their last two games. They only have registered victories over A1 Challenge and Nabisunsa in their last five games.
On the other hand, the Magic Stomers, currently eighth with 19 points, have displayed commendable form, winning four of their last five matches. Their only recent defeat was against the league leaders, JKL Lady Dolphins.
It remains to be seen whether the Panthers can turn the tables on the Namblazers and if the Ravens can recover their form against the Stomers.
