KCCA Panthers Triumph Over JT Jaguars in Triple Overtime Thriller

In an electrifying National Basketball League clash on Sunday May 19, 2024, the KCCA Panthers emerged victorious against JT Jaguars BBC with a final score of 95-88 after three overtime periods at the YMCA Arena in Wandegeya.

The tightly contested game saw both teams battling neck and neck throughout, with the score remaining close and ultimately forcing multiple overtimes.

The game was tied at 69-69 at the end of the fourth quarter, forcing overtime. The first overtime period ended 77-77 with the second ending 86-86.

Despite valiant efforts from the Jaguars, the Panthers’ resilience and tactical prowess in the third overtime sealed their win.

Stephen Otoa played a pivotal role in the Panthers’ victory, scoring crucial free throws in the final seconds to extend their lead to seven points.

Emmanuel Odongkara led the Panthers with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Rin Tueny Mabor was dominant on the boards, collecting 16 rebounds alongside his 12 points, while Stephen Otoa contributed significantly with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists.

On the Jaguars’ side, George Agasi stood out with a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Moru added 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Benjamin Shango secured 14 rebounds.

The Panthers outperformed in free throws, making 23 of 39 attempts compared to the Jaguars’ 9 of 17. Overall, the Jaguars had a higher field goal percentage, shooting 38% compared to the Panthers’ 29%.

Throughout the game, the Panthers’ bench depth and strategic plays in the final minutes proved decisive as they capitalized on the Jaguars’ turnovers and fouls.

Despite the Jaguars’ strong performance, including 65 rebounds and 18 assists, their 32 turnovers ultimately contributed to their defeat.

The Panthers are now 5th with 26 points, two behind the Jaguars who are in second place.
