There are only three days left to the grand reopening of Nakivubo stadium with two football matches and diverse activities lined up.
URA will take on newly crowned Uganda Cup champions Kitara in a match that marks the debut of new URA Head Coach Alex Musongola Isabirye.
The second football match will feature a classic rivalry as Express take on SC Villa, who at one point had Nakivubo as their.home ground.
Brian Ssenyondo, the Head Coach of Kitara expressed optimism about his team’s preparation and strategy for the match against URA, remarking, “We are ready and excited to take part and use this as one of our preseason preparations.”
Coaches Baker Mbowa of Express and Morley Byekwaso of SC Villa both emphasized the historic rivalry between their teams and the excitement surrounding this match.
“This is more than just a game; it’s about pride and history,” noted Byekwaso, while Mbowa added, “Our fans are expecting a fierce contest, and we are prepared to deliver.”
The stakes are high, with the winning team set to receive UGX 10 million and the runner-up earning UGX 5 million. In addition, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) from each match will be awarded UGX 1 million.
Apart from the football action, the grand opening will feature a kickboxing match, netball, and basketball games, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display and performances from artists.
Tickets for the event are available via Next Ticket, with prices ranging from UGX 50,000 to UGX 150,000.
