Namibia emerged victorious in a thrilling T20 World Cup warm-up clash against Uganda at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy Oval. The match, characterized by intense competition and strategic gameplay, saw Namibia winning the toss and electing to field first.
Uganda posted a competitive total of 134/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Roger Mukasa showcased his batting prowess with an impressive unbeaten knock of 53 runs, supported by Robinson Obuya’s contribution of 39 runs. Bernard Scholtz led Namibia’s bowling attack with figures of 2/16.
In response, Namibia chased down the target with determination, reaching 135/5 in 18.5 overs to secure victory. Niko Davin played a crucial role with the bat, notching up a well-deserved half-century.
Despite a valiant effort from Uganda’s bowlers, including Henry Ssenyondo with figures of 2/13 and Alpesh Ramjani taking 1/24, Namibia managed to clinch the win by 5 wickets.
With this win under their belt, Namibia showcased their strength and readiness for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Uganda will look to regroup as they prepare to face Scotland on Thursday, May 30th, at the same venue.
