The JKL Lady Dolphins secured a decisive 60-37 victory over the KIU Rangers in their National Basketball League encounter held at the MTN Arena on May 31st.
The game began with the Rangers taking an early lead, ending the first quarter 10-5. However, the Lady Dolphins surged ahead in the second quarter, scoring 18 points to the Rangers’ 15.
The third quarter was particularly challenging for the Rangers, as they managed only 3 points compared to the Dolphins’ 23, establishing a significant lead that they maintained until the end.
Evelyn Nakiyinji of the JKL Lady Dolphins dominated the court with 7 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 assists in 35 minutes.
Her teammate Hope Akello contributed 2 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in 33 minutes, while Tamasha Nsubuga managed 2 points and 3 index points in just 3 minutes of play.
For the KIU Rangers, Namulema Fildauce recorded 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in 21 minutes, Brenda Ayere added 4 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist in 10 minutes, and Amaniyo Rose Mary led the Rangers in scoring with 9 points and secured 11 rebounds.
The Rangers struggled with turnovers, committing 25 compared to JKL’s 18. Additionally, JKL scored 14 points in the paint, whereas KIU managed only 4, and the Lady Dolphins capitalized on fast breaks, scoring 22 points to KIU’s 6.
The JKL Lady Dolphins remain first on the standings with 37 points while the KIU Rangers are sixth with 27 points.
