KCCA Football Club endured a horrific start to the 2023/24 season dropping out of the CAF Confederations Cup and then going on to lose four games in a row. They then went on to draw against relegated Arua Hill before finally registering a win against Vipers Sports Club.
This nightmare start is what the Kasasiro Boys will be looking for avoid when the 2024/25 season kicks off in August. The ambition to right the wrongs can be seen in the transfer activity around the club so far.
Shafik Kwikiriza and Steven Munguchi have joined the team, along with forward Emmanuel Anyama with notable contract extensions for goalkeeper Mutwalibu Mugolofa and forward Ashraf Mugume.
Mugume, their most recent contract extension decided to stay with the Kasasiro Boys, despite reported interest from Vipers Sports Club.
Under the guidance of coach Abudallah Mubiru, Mugume played a pivotal role in the previous season helping KCCA to finish the season strong, surging to a 5th place finish in the Uganda Premier League something that seemed impossible after their nightmare start.
KCCA say that these moves are part of a broader strategy to enhance squad depth and improve performance in the forthcoming campaign. The club hopes that the experience and skillset of the new additions as well as the contract extensions will be crucial in the club’s quest for higher league standings and potential silverware.
Coach Mubiru expressed optimism about the team’s future, highlighting the blend of retained talent and new signings as a strong foundation for success.
“Mugume’s commitment to KCCA is a testament to our club’s vision and ambition. With the new additions, we are poised to compete at a higher level and achieve our goals,” Mubiru stated.
As KCCA prepares for the new season, the club’s management and supporters remain hopeful that these strategic decisions will yield positive results, positioning the Kasasiro Boys as strong contenders in the Uganda Premier League.
