The National Basketball League (NBL) is set to resume on Wednesday, June 19th, following a hiatus as Uganda hosted the U18 FIBA Zone V Afrobasket Qualifiers. Uganda triumphed in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, securing victories and a place at the finals in South Africa.
As the league returns, the women’s division will see an exciting clash between the KCCA Leopards and the Miracle Ravens at 7 PM. The KCCA Leopards, currently third in the standings with 32 points, have demonstrated strong form, winning four of their last five games. Their sole defeat in this period came against the second-placed JT Lady Jaguars.
On the other hand, the Miracle Ravens are fifth with 30 points. Their recent performance has been less impressive, with four losses in their last five games. Their only win in this stretch was against the second-last-placed YMCA Lady Hamsters. The previous encounter between the Leopards and the Ravens ended in a nail-biting 76-75 victory for the Miracle Ravens, setting the stage for a highly anticipated rematch.
In the men’s division, the KCCA Panthers will face off against the Ndejje Angels at 9 PM. The Panthers, positioned fifth in the standings, have had a mixed run recently, winning two of their last five games. They suffered defeats against the City Oilers, Jaguars, and Namblazers, with their latest setback being an 80-68 loss to the Oilers.
The Ndejje Angels are at the bottom of the standings, with no victories in their last five games and no chance of making it to the playoffs. The Panthers dominated their first-round encounter, winning convincingly with a score of 70-51.
