KCCA Leopards Basketball Club delivered a commanding performance, defeating Miracle Ravens 72-50 as the National Basketball League returned after a one-week break.
The game played at the MTN Arena in Lugogo saw KCCA Leopards set the tone early, outpacing the Miracle Ravens 21-12 in the first quarter. Although the second quarter saw a more balanced contest, with the Leopards narrowly outscored 19-18, they quickly regained control in the second half. KCCA strengthened their lead with a 20-10 advantage in the third quarter and sealed their victory by outscoring the Ravens 13-9 in the final period.
The Leopards’ efficiency was evident as they converted 34% of their field goal attempts compared to the Ravens’ 25%. From the three-point line, KCCA managed 25% accuracy, while the Miracle Ravens struggled to make any of their 23 attempts. At the free-throw line, the Leopards performed slightly better, hitting 55% of their shots, as opposed to the Ravens’ 52%.
Rebounding was another key factor, with KCCA grabbing 60 boards to Miracle Ravens’ 56. The Leopards also demonstrated superior playmaking with 28 assists, doubling the Ravens’ total. Defensively, KCCA recorded 13 steals, capitalizing on the Ravens’ 26 turnovers, and turned these opportunities into 30 points. Fast break points also contributed to their success, adding 20 points to their total score.
Amoding Moreen led the Leopards with 13 points, while Susan Rebecca Aanyu dominated the boards with 13 rebounds. Kazibwe Sylvester orchestrated the offence with six assists.
For the Miracle Ravens, Lilian Cherotich stood out with nine points and six rebounds, and Grace Kusaba led her team with four assists.
The KCCA Leopards move a point behind second-placed JT Lady Jaguars while the Miracle Ravens are fifth with 31 points.
