This was a significant achievement for team Uganda, who showcased their talent and determination on the international stage.

The ISF World Schools Basketball Championship, which commenced yesterday Sunday, June 23rd and will run until July 3rd, 2024, is taking place in Macau, China, and co-hosted by the University of Macau and the Macau-China Basketball Association.

In addition to Uganda, the championship features teams from 19 other countries and regions, including Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Macao, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Chinese Taipei, and Turkey.

Chao Hio Tong, a representative from the Macau-China Basketball Association, noted that a total of 117 matches will be played across three venues: the Sports Complex of the University of Macau, the Mong-Ha Sports Centre, and the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.

Uganda’s participation in the championship is particularly noteworthy, as the country is represented by two teams: the boys’ team from Elite High School and a girls’ select team from different schools, the FIBA Afro-basketball Zone 5 U18 Champions.

The victory over Brazil on the opening day serves as a promising start for the Ugandan teams, who will be looking to make a strong impression and showcase their basketball prowess against the other formidable opponents in the tournament.
