Tanzania Premier League giants Simba SC have announced the signing of Uganda Cranes forward Steven Mukwala.
By acquiring the services of the 26-year-old, the Reds of Msimbazi shrugged off competition from other top African sides like; Raja Casablanca and Zamalek FC of Morocco and Egypt, respectively.
Moldovan Premier League champions Petro Club were the other side in the race for the Ugandan offering him UEFA Champions League football before the player decided to join Simba.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mukwala penned a three-year contract with the Juma Mgunda-coached side as a free agent after exiting Ghanian outfit Asante Kotoko.
The former URA player spent two seasons in Kumasi featuring in 59 games in all competitions managing 25 goals to his name.
Simba are preparing for the 2024/25 season hoping to go toe to toe with rivals Young Africans who have dominated the Ligi Kuu Bara.
They will also be representing Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup having finished third on the 16-team log during the 2023/24 campaign.
Simba becomes Mukwala’s second team overseas whilst he has also played for Vipers and Maroons in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
