Delegates from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday morning inspected the ongoing construction works at Philip Omondi Stadium, home to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club.
The inspection was led by CAF’s Head of Legal & Corporate, Mr. Omar El Ghiati, and included several CAF consultants. The team was accompanied by Ronnie Kalema, an executive member of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations.
The Philip Omondi Stadium has been designated as a key training facility for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.
The current construction phase aims to significantly upgrade the stadium’s infrastructure. These upgrades include increasing the seating capacity, enhancing the changing rooms, and improving office spaces and other essential facilities.
According to project timelines, this phase of construction is slated for completion in early 2025.
