Carlos Alcaraz is aiming for a “perfect” Sunday by beating Novak Djokovic to retain his Wimbledon crown and then cheering on Spain to win the Euro 2024 final.

The Real Madrid fan will send his best wishes to captain Alvaro Morata and the team before the big kick-off in Berlin’s Olympiastadion.

The French Open champion overcame a nervous start to silence Daniil Medvedev 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in a repeat of last year’s semi-final. The world No.3 has won his first three Grand Slam finals, including defeating Djokovic in a five-set epic here last year.

Spain has won their last three Majors finals in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Alcaraz commented, “Being a Spaniard, yeah, it would be a perfect Sunday if we win both. I talk with Alvaro, with Morata. We send best of luck for every match. Obviously, we send the best of luck on Sunday.”

During Alcaraz’s match, Medvedev received a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct for language directed at umpire Eva Asderaki. Despite this, Alcaraz maintained focus to secure his victory.

Djokovic returned to Centre Court for the first time since clashing with the crowd on Monday night. The Serbian superstar, seeking his 25th Grand Slam title, is one win away from equalling Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles. Djokovic defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 7-6, 6-4 to reach the final.

He commented, “Hopefully I will get my hands on the trophy on Sunday. He already beat me at Wimbledon last year in a thrilling five-setter. It is going to take the best of my ability on the court to beat him on Sunday.”
