Leny Yoro hailed his Manchester United debut as “incredible” following the team’s 2-0 victory over Rangers in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The 18-year-old centre-back, who recently joined United from Lille for approximately UGX 249 Billion (£52.1m), played a significant role in the match.
Amad Diallo opened the scoring for Manchester United in the first half, with Joe Hugill adding a second goal, securing the win for Erik ten Hag’s side.
“It was incredible,” Yoro told MUTV. “Good game from the team, I was happy with my performance. I hope we continue like that. The team-mates helped me a lot, the staff made me comfortable. On the pitch we are together, so for me it is very good.”
Yoro also praised the support from the fans, stating, “Of course they were here for me, it was really important, so thank you to the fans, hope to see you soon at Old Trafford.”
United are set to travel to the United States for further pre-season matches against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool.
Manager Erik ten Hag singled out Amad Diallo after the match, saying, “This has to be Amad Diallo’s year. We have to see Amad in a different way, he is not inexperienced anymore. I trust him.”
Yoro’s arrival is timely for Manchester United, especially with Lisandro Martinez resting after his Copa America triumph and Harry Maguire not yet at full fitness.
