The sixth round of the 2024 national motocross championship was held on Sunday at the Garuga Raceway track with over 80 riders taking part.
The one-day event that pulled huge crowds also had rally crews racing to fundraise for Umar Dauda’s new car.
With some riders testing their machines ahead of the FIM Africa Motocross of Nations event scheduled for 25th-27th October 2024 in Morocco, Jonathan Katende comfortably won the 65cc with Ethan Paul Musedde and fast rising star Isaac Mitima finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In the 85cc, Ethan Katek dislodged Jerome Mubiru as Gift Sebuguzi, son to rally driver Ronald Sebuguzi enjoyed the MX125cc with Dan Mitima finishing 2nd overall.
In the Veterans category, Kayira Geoffrey emerged winner while Andrea Martineli swept the Masters Class category. Milton Akaki easily won the MX2 category as Sharifah Kateete, daughter to rally driver Abdu Kateete finished 2nd.
The 7th round is scheduled for the 6th October 2024 in Kalisizo. Meanwhile, the fundraising sprint was won by Ronald Sebuguzi, followed by Susan Muwonge as Omar Mayanja finished a distant 3rd.
