Kitara, the reigning Uganda Cup winners, have bolstered their squad with the signing of left-back Oyirwoth Douglas on a one-year contract.
Douglas joins from UPDF, where he spent the last four years honing his skills and showcasing his talent.
The defender reunites with Coach Brian Ssenyondo at Kitara. Ssenyondo is well acquainted with Douglas, having previously coached him at UPDF, Mbarara City, and Synergy.
“I am glad to be a player of Kitara. I know the expectations are high but I also know my purpose here and hope to settle in well and deliver,” Oyirwoth said.
This longstanding relationship is expected to be pivotal in helping Douglas settle quickly and make an immediate impact.
Douglas is eager to put a challenging 2023/2024 season behind him. A knee injury sustained during a pre-season friendly against Express at Wankulukuku sidelined him for the entire first round.
Despite this setback, he managed to make seven appearances in the second half of the season, playing a key role in UPDF’s battle to remain in the Uganda Premier League.
