The National Basketball League semifinals are heating up as the Namuwongo Blazers gear up to clash with the KIU Titans in Game 3 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 9 pm.
The series is tied 1-1, with each team showcasing its strengths in different ways.
In Game 1, the Blazers dominated with a 79-61 victory. Innocent Ochera led the charge with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Jimmy Williams poured in a game-high 21 points, while Joseph Chuma and Peter Cheng added 17 and 13 points, respectively.
Game 2 saw the Titans bounce back with an 81-77 win, propelled by Peter Obleng’s 19 points and Tembo Kasereka’s 16.
The Titans built a commanding 21-point lead and weathered a late surge from the Blazers.
Joel Lukoji Banza contributed 13 points for the Titans, with Edgar Munaaba and Collins Kasujja each chipping in 10 points.
Rebounding was a key factor, with the Blazers dominating the boards 59-42 in Game 2. However, their 3-point shooting needs to improve, as they struggled with just 6 of 31 from beyond the arc.
On the other hand, the Titans also had issues from deep, missing 28 of 31 attempts in Game 1.
With the series tied, Game 3 is pivotal. A win will put either team just one step away from the finals in this best-of-five showdown.
