NBL Playoffs: A Repeat Of The 2023 Women’s Final

The stage is set for the 2024 Women’s Castle Light National Basketball League final.

It will be a repeat of the 2023 final between JKL Lady Dolphins and UCU Lady Canons which was won by the former.

To reach the podium, they eliminated JT Lady Jaguars and KIU Rangers 3-1 each in the best-of-five series semifinal playoffs.

After taking a 2-0 lead after two games, the Dolphins thought they had made light work of the Jaguars who would later bite them in game three setting up a highly competitive penultimate game.

Just like in game three, the Jaguars gave the defending champion a run for their money in an attempt to force game five.

However, the Dolphins managed to come out top of the one-point game, 59-58 putting themselves in a pole position of winning their fourth NBL title in history.

On the other hand, it was a mixture of results in the series between Canons and Rangers with the former winning the first game before the latter levelled it in game two.

With a high spirited mindset Canons won the third and fourth games and will be looking to avenge the Dolphins in the title decider.

It’s important to note that Canons are the record champions of the Women’s National Basketball League with eight titles and will be hoping to reclaim their crown from the Dolphins.

In the men’s division, record holders City Oilers who are in their 10th straight final after eliminating UCU Canons, await the winner between KIU Titans and Namuwongo Blazers who are level 2-2 ahead of game five on Sunday.
