Ugandan Loice Chekwemoi Claims Silver in World U20 Steeplechase

Ugandan athlete Loice Chekwemoi secured a silver medal in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at the World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 24.

Despite falling short of the gold medal, Chekwemoi’s impressive performance showcased her exceptional talent and potential for future success.

The race was a thrilling spectacle, with Ethiopia’s Sembo Almayew ultimately claiming the gold medal in a championship record time of 9:12.71.

Chekwemoi finished a close second, clocking a time of 9:18.84. Her strong finish earned her a well-deserved silver medal and solidified her position as one of the world’s leading young steeplechasers.

Loice Chekwemoi wins Uganda’s third medal at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru. On day one, Charity Cherop and Kenneth Kiprop won bronze medals in the women’s and men’s 5000m, respectively.
