JKL Lady Dolphins defeated UCU Lady Canons 62-51 in game five of the best-of-seven series playoffs final at Lugogo on Friday evening.
The nine-point victory ensured that JKL turned this epic final on its head having trailed 2-0 after game two.
Dolphins have won three back-to-back games in this series and they are beginning to stare at a second straight National Basketball League championship in the Women’s division.
Hope Akello was instrumental in the win putting up a double-double, 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Jane Asinde contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds, whereas Rita Imanishimwe and Brenda Ekone recorded 11 and 10 points apiece.
Even though UCU lost, the Mukono-based side’s Shakirah Nanvubya registered a game-high 16 points.
It will be a do-or-die affair at Lugogo on Sunday for Nick Natuhereza’s charges, who could lose a second consecutive final to JKL.
It’s important to note that the Men’s division concluded on Wednesday when City Oilers swept KIU Titans 4-0 to win their record 10th straight title.
