The National Basketball League best-of-seven series final playoffs in the Women’s division have been paused due to the FIBA 3X3 World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
JKL Lady Dolphins and UCU Lady Canons are the two teams involved in this final which stands 3-2 in favor of the former after game five on Friday.
The statement seen by NBS Sport on Saturday morning states that both teams will be affected by the above-mentioned event and therefore the postponement of game six and a possible game seven.
“Games 6 & 7 of the WNBL have been rescheduled to dates after Wednesday 18th September, due to the 3×3 World Cup in Mongolia that impacts both JKL & UCU teams.”
“An email on the same will be sent out today (Saturday) with the rescheduled dates,” the statement read.
The Women’s U23 team won the Women’s FIBA 3X3 Youth Nations League at Lugogo in August to book a spot in the World Cup.
The showpiece is scheduled for September 11th to 15th, 2023.
