The FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket 2024 All-Star team has been revealed, showcasing the future stars of African women’s basketball.
Leading the charge is Mali’s Oummou Koumare, who was crowned both Most Valuable Player and top scorer of the tournament.
Koumare played a pivotal role in Mali’s undefeated run to the championship. The 17-year-old forward averaged a staggering 22.5 points per game, including a game-high 31 points in the title game against Nigeria.
Her dominance earned her additional accolades as the tournament’s leading scorer and best three-point shooter.
Joining Koumare on the All-Star team is her teammate, Mama Sidiki Doumbia.
Doumbia was a force to be reckoned with throughout the competition, averaging 14 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.
While Uganda fell short of a podium finish, they did find a shining star in Resty Nanangwe.
The young guard emerged as the tournament’s second-leading scorer, averaging an impressive 20 points per game.
Nanangwe’s phenomenal performance, including 8.3 rebounds per game, earned her a well-deserved spot on the All-Star team.
Other notable performers
Nigeria’s Idubamo Beggi showcased her offensive prowess, averaging 18 points and 5 assists per game.
Cameroon’s Damaris Emedie, the tournament’s best rebounder, averaged a double-double with 18.3 points and a remarkable 17.2 rebounds per game.
