In the first semi-final, Rounders emerged victorious over Tornado, winning by a comfortable margin of six wickets.

Tornado, batting first, struggled to build momentum and were dismissed for a modest 87 runs in 20 overs.

Ajuna Robert led the Tornado batting charge with 27 runs, while Steven Wabwose and Lutaya Ronald contributed 18 and 13 runs respectively.

Rounders’ bowling attack, led by former Cricket Cranes captain Brian Masaba and David Mwesigwa, proved too much for Tornado.

Both Masaba and Mwesigwa claimed three wickets each to restrict Tornado to a low total.

In reply, Rounders chased down the target with relative ease, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten knock of 32 runs from Narinder Singh. Pius Oloka and Aaron Kusasira also made valuable contributions of 18 and 21 runs respectively.

Steven Wabwose picked up two wickets for Tornado but couldn’t prevent his team’s defeat.

The second semi-final saw Wanderers overcome Ceylon Lions by four wickets.

Ceylon Lions, batting first, posted a respectable total of 136 runs, with Charles Musemeza leading the way with a well-crafted 51 runs. Ankit Patel and Obuya Robinson also made significant contributions.

Wanderers’ chase was anchored by Manpreet Singh’s unbeaten 35 runs, which included three fours and a six.

Abu Seguya and Wisim Butt also played important roles, scoring 31 and 24 runs respectively. Wanderers reached the target in 17.5 overs to secure their place in the final.

The final of the UGT20 League is scheduled for September 29, 2024. The venue for the final will be announced in due course.
