The Papua New Guinea (PNG) Barramundis secured a convincing 81-run victory over the Uganda Cricket Cranes in the opening match of their four-game ODI series at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe.
The Barramundis, batting first, posted a competitive total of 176 runs on the board.
Openers Sese Bau (40 runs) and Tony Ura (42 runs) laid a solid foundation for the middle order, with contributions from Kipling Doriga (18 runs) and Gaudi Toka (20 runs) helping them reach a defendable total.
Despite a valiant knock of 46 runs from Simon Ssesazi, the Ugandan batting line-up faltered, eventually being bundled out for just 95 runs in 30.1 overs.
PNG’s bowlers shared the spoils effectively, with John Kariko and Gaudi Toka claiming three wickets each.
The win gives the Barramundis a crucial lead in the series, which they are using as preparation for their upcoming Challenge League A tournament in Kenya.
The series continues today September 19th, with both teams aiming to gain momentum and secure valuable points ahead of their respective international tournaments.
