The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) Athletes Commission on Saturday concluded a two-day workshop designed to equip athletes with essential knowledge and skills.
The event, held in Kampala, brought together athletes from various sporting disciplines across the country.
The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including strategies for athletes to transition seamlessly from competitive careers to post-sport endeavors, and measures to protect athletes from abuse, harassment, and discrimination.
The workshop also explored the core principles and values of the Olympic Movement, understanding and addressing issues related to gender-based violence and promoting gender equality in sports, and a discussion of the functions and responsibilities of the Athletes Commission in advocating for the interests of athletes.
This initiative was a key milestone in the UOC Athletes Commission’s commitment to empowering athletes and building their skill set.
By providing athletes with valuable information and training, the commission aims to enhance their overall well-being and professional development.
Ganzi Mugula, Chairperson of the UOC Athletes Commission and Leticia Namutebi, Secretary General led the initiative which they say was to ensure that athletes have the resources and support they need to excel in their careers and beyond.
The UOC Athletes Commission has been actively working to engage and support athletes across Uganda. Through initiatives like this workshop, the commission is making significant strides in promoting the welfare and development of the country’s sporting talent.
