World Athletics has recognized Ugandan long-distance star Jacob Kiplimo as one of the five nominees for the 2024 Men’s Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year award.
The announcement highlights Kiplimo’s exceptional achievements over the past year, marked by a gold medal in the World Cross Country Championships and a standout performance in the Valencia 10km race, both of which solidified his place among the sport’s elite.
Kiplimo’s nomination is part of the annual World Athletics Awards, which celebrate top performances in out-of-stadium events such as cross-country, road racing, and long-distance competitions.
The 2024 awards spotlight key moments from the Paris Olympic Games, World Athletics Cross Country Championships, and various prominent road races worldwide.
Competing with Kiplimo for the title are Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia, Benson Kipruto of Kenya, Brian Daniel Pintado of Ecuador, and Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia, each bringing impressive records to the table.
Voting for the Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year award is now open on World Athletics’ social media platforms and will continue until November 3.
Winners will be revealed at the World Athletics Awards ceremony, celebrating the sport’s most remarkable athletes and moments from the past year.
