City Oilers head coach Andrew Tendo is optimistic as his team heads to Nairobi for the BAL Elite 16 tournament, tipping off on November 28.
Tendo, managing his first campaign at this level, spoke about the team’s rigorous training sessions and new additions, including Israel Otobo from APR (Rwanda) and standout player Petty Parish.
“This is a fresh challenge, and we’re prepared. Let’s see what Nairobi brings,” said Tendo.
City Oilers are grouped with Uranani (Burundi), Matero Magic (Zambia), and Fox Basketball (South Sudan).
Former Oilers coach Mandy Juruni, originally linked to Fox Basketball, clarified he wouldn’t be managing this time but expressed confidence in Tendo.
“Tendo’s drive is remarkable; I believe he’ll elevate the team to a stronger performance,” Juruni stated.
The tournament serves as a qualification for the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
The top two teams from each group will proceed to the semifinals and secure BAL spots.
Oilers open their campaign on November 28 against Fox Basketball.
