The Cricket Cranes made a strong statement in their opening match of the ILT20 Africa Continental Cup, defeating Botswana by a convincing 78 runs.
Batting first, Uganda set a competitive target of 164/8, with Alpesh Ramjani leading the charge with a quick-fire 58 runs off 35 balls. Shrideep Mangela provided valuable support with a brisk 26 runs.
The Botswana batting lineup struggled to keep pace with the required run rate, ultimately being bowled out for just 86 runs.
Frank Nsubuga was the star of the Ugandan bowling attack, claiming 3 wickets while Cosmas Kyewuta also impressed with 3 wickets of his own. Henry Ssenyondo also chipped in with 2 wickets.
This dominant victory sets the tone for Uganda’s campaign as they aim to defend their title.
The Cricket Cranes will face hosts Rwanda today and then face Nigeria tomorrow December 6th.
