President Museveni to Inaugurate Teryet High-Altitude Training Centre

The National High Altitude Training Centre in Teryet, Kapchorwa, is set to be officially inaugurated by President Museveni this Wednesday.

This state-of-the-art facility represents a significant step in Uganda’s commitment to sports development and fostering athletic talent. Phase I, now completed, boasts features such as an athletic track, artificial turf field, jogging track, hostel accommodations, a dining hall with an external kitchen, and modern sports equipment. Positioned in a high-altitude environment, it provides an optimal setting for athletes aiming for peak performance.

The center is part of Uganda’s strategic efforts to improve sports infrastructure in preparation for co-hosting the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON). Other ongoing projects include upgrades to Mandela National Stadium, Teso College Aloet’s semi-Olympic swimming pool, and the FUFA Kadiba Training Ground, among others.

The Teryet facility is expected to serve as a hub for athletic excellence, elevating Uganda’s status as a leading destination for high-performance sports training and contributing to the long-term growth of its sports sector.
