Uganda Retains ILT20 Continental Cup with Dominant Display Over Nigeria

Uganda successfully defended her ILT20 Continental Cup title with a resounding 6-wicket victory over Nigeria at the Gahanga International Stadium on Saturday.

Nigeria, struggling to find their rhythm, crumbled under the pressure of the Ugandan bowling attack, managing a paltry 89 runs in 17.3 overs.

The Nigerian innings witnessed a dramatic collapse, losing wickets at regular intervals.

Henry Ssenyondo spearheaded the Ugandan bowling attack, delivering a match-winning spell of 3 wickets for just 7 runs.

In reply, Uganda chased down the target with consummate ease, reaching 90/4 in 17.2 overs.

Riazat Ali Shah, the Ugandan captain, anchored the chase with a composed 42 runs not out, while Dinesh Nakrani provided crucial support with a quickfire 27.

Last year, Uganda clinched the title with a one-run victory over Kenya.

Head coach Abhay Sharma made strategic changes to his squad, including the recall of experienced players like Simon Ssesazi and Joseph Baguma, as well as the inclusion of promising talent like Pascal Murungi. The team delivered and successfully defended the title.
