Abagimu Clan Advances in BKK MTN Enganda Football Tournament

The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom (BKK) over the weekend hosted a series of exciting sporting events in Kagadi District, culminating in the conclusion of the BKK MTN Enganda football tournament for 2024.

In a fiercely contested match at Kagadi SS playground, the Abagimu clan emerged victorious over the Abahemba clan with a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

This victory secured their place in the next round of the tournament, which is set to resume in January 2025 with the finals and matches involving the remaining districts of Kakumiro and Kagadi.

Julius Abigaba, the head coach of the Abagimu clan team, expressed his gratitude for the victory and acknowledged the crucial support provided by MTN Uganda.

“We are happy that we have qualified for the next round and we appreciate MTN for the support,” said Abigaba.

The tournament, which aims to foster unity and peace within the kingdom, also saw the participation of the Abayaga clan, who unfortunately did not appear for their scheduled match.

Owek Moses Atuha, representing the Chief Administrative Secretary of BKK, emphasized the importance of the tournament in showcasing local talent and promoting unity within the kingdom.

He urged for discipline and sportsmanship throughout the competition, highlighting the need for the games to be a platform for fun, friendship, and unity.

“We promise full support to MTN from the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, and we hope our long friendship continues to thrive,” Atuha added.

In addition to the football tournament, the BKK MTN Bicycle Racing Competitions were also held with great enthusiasm. Flagged off by Atuha Moses, Owek. Sebugwawo Godfrey, Owek. Byamukama Francis, and MTN Uganda Territory Manager Mr. Nabeta Samuel, the event celebrated both the sport and the community’s development efforts.

“The bicycle racing competitions and the upcoming Enganda football tournament are designed to bring the community together, promote development programs such as coffee planting, and inform the public about the kingdom’s initiatives,” said Atuha Moses.

Both the football and bicycle races attracted large crowds, demonstrating the significant role sports play in bringing together the people of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

The BKK MTN Enganda tournament, supported by MTN Uganda, continues to be a highlight of the kingdom’s sporting calendar, showcasing local talent and fostering a strong sense of community.
