Hamz Nakivubo stadium is set to host its first boxing match of the year 2025 when Uganda’s Dancing master Latib Muwonge takes on Tanzania’s Karim Migea in the 10-rounds super lightweight WABA intercontinental elimination fight.
The fight set for January 26th has ten thrilling undercard bouts including among other household names Jjunju Power, Ssebufu Isaac as well two female bouts listed on the fight card.
“We lead the East African community as Ugandans and this will be exhibited on the Liberation Day. I want to fight for my Ugandan flag and I am ready,” noted Muwonge, who hailed Hamis Kiggundu, the Hamz stadium developer for allowing his fight to happen in the facility.
“I thank Hajji Hamis for granting us an opportunity to have the fight from such a magnificent facility.”
Muwonge, who has only lost twice out of the 12 professional bouts, lost to home boy Abbada Ferouz Cadabra in Tanzania on Boxing Day.
Robert Wasswa, on behalf of Big Strikers Promotions Company urged the boxing fraternity to embrace the chance to host boxing matches at Nakivubo.
“I want the boxing fraternity to come to Nakivubo with the best conduct so as we make the stadium the new home of boxing in Uganda,” he noted.
This will be the second boxing match at the reconstructed stadium after Isaac Zebra Senyange beat Abas Seguya after ten intense rounds to clinch the national super welterweight title at the stadium’s grand opening in June last year.
