Construction of Uganda’s second national stadium in Hoima City is progressing at a remarkable pace, according to a recent inspection by the National Council of Sports (NCS).
Turkish construction giant SUMMA, tasked with delivering the $129 million multi-sports complex within 18 months, is reportedly ahead of schedule.
During the third inspection, NCS officials, including Assistant General Secretary Administration Joseph Oluga and Engineering Officer Nicholas Zirimenya, along with representatives from the Ministry of Works and Transport, were impressed by the rapid progress on site.
The project, which includes a 20,000-seater main stadium, a 2,000-seater indoor arena, a training pitch, a semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 1,000-plus vehicle parking lot, and outdoor courts for basketball, netball, and volleyball, is already taking shape.
Hoima City is poised to be a key venue for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
The construction of this state-of-the-art stadium will not only enhance sporting infrastructure in the region but also contribute to the economic development of Hoima and the surrounding areas.
