The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) recently concluded a five-day capacity building program for coaches and referees in the West Nile region.
The program, held at Mvara SS in Arua City from January 12th to 18th, brought together 86 participants, including 55 referees and 31 coaches.
Led by experienced instructors, the program covered a wide range of topics, including coaching techniques, sports rules and regulations, and sportsmanship. Interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises provided participants with valuable hands-on experience.
“This program has been a game-changer for me,” stated Alamiga Swadik, one of the participating coaches. “I’ve learned so much and made valuable connections that will help me grow as a coach.”
The closing ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Mr. Candia Ronald, the Senior Sports Officer of Arua Central Division, who emphasized the importance of capacity building in sports development.
“The participants have demonstrated dedication and hard work throughout this program,” Mr. Candia said. “I encourage them to continue learning and growing, and to use their newfound knowledge to inspire the next generation of athletes.”
All participants received certificates of completion, and they will also be awarded certificates of merit from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in recognition of their commitment to excellence.
